I started juicing today. I know. Here's the thing. My parent's 50th wedding anniversary is coming up in October and mom wants family photos in garden of the gods park. Oh, joy. I hate having my photo taken.
Now until it's photo time, I will be juicing a morning smoothy. From the left over fruit and vegetable matter, I will make soup for lunch with meat. In between that are more veggie smoothies. So it's paleo-ish, just kind of pre-masticated paleo...in a glass.
Today's morning smoothie was;
1-inch piece of ginger washed & peeled
2 gala apples
1 sweet potato
It made just over 1 & 1/2 cups of juice but almost 2 cups of vegetable and fruit matter were left over. Too wasteful to toss so I dumped it into a crock pot with spices, chicken broth and left over pieces of roasted chicken. Lunch is going to be so tasty.
Yesterday, I cooked a turkey breast so that will also be put to use in soups for the next few days as well.
For the record, I still am not going to let kale touch these lips. Blech! My juicing options are mostly root vegetables, celery, cabbage and occasionally fruit.
